I appreciate what Carnival has tried to do on this ship to make flexible dining more accessible. In addition to the main dining room, passengers who have selected the Anytime Dining plan can enjoy dinner at Cucina del Capitano or Chibang! Where they can choose dishes from the restaurant's menu or the always-available options from the main dining room menu. Carnival Jubilee is the third Excel-class ship with the cruise line and was entered into service in December of 2023. The ship is currently homeporting in Galveston, Texas and is the first brand-new ship to homeport at the Texas port.

Aft of the Lido Marketplace buffet is another pool, plus Shaq's Big Chicken. All the way forward on Deck 18 is the adults-only Serenity Deck, with a pool, two hot tubs and the Fresh Creations custom salad bar. Aft of 820 Biscayne, Summer Landing makes a comeback on Carnival Celebration. Outside, a small pool, two hot tubs and the Watering Hole provide an inviting spot to hang out on a hot day.
WISH MARDI GRAS® HAD EVEN MORE FUN?
It has a complete waterpark for kids and even a mini-golf course. The ship has a nice-sized main pool on the Lido deck and two aft Infinity pools. These comfy rooms with a view let you take in the scenery as you sail toward your beautiful destinations.
Guy's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse
The ship debuted in 2009 at 128,000 GT and carries 3,646 passengers. Carnival Jubilee, the latest addition to the Carnival Cruise Line fleet, was voted Best New Cruise Ship of 2023 in the annual Cruise Hive Awards. The 183,521-gross ton ship received far more votes than her nearest competitor, indicating her commanding presence in the cruise ship market.
SO THAT’S ALL THE FUN ON CARNIVAL CELEBRATION®?
And Cucina del Capitano – will cost you extra at night but offer a complimentary modified menu on certain days. The wait times to get into these restaurants is short, though we discovered at Chibang! That it took a long time to get food – nearly 30 minutes for a simple noodle dish and burrito bowl order. Waitstaff seemed overwhelmed and didn’t look to have time for more than taking an order or dropping off a dish.
Carnival Jubilee Has New Zones, Old Favorites
The benefits don’t end there — your little girls and boys eat free in most onboard specialty restaurants and get a free evening of Night Owls babysitting service, so you can enjoy a little alone time. If "big" and "easy" sound about right for your vacation, you might just make theFrench Quarter on Mardi Gras® your home zone. What inspired this area is no lessthan New Orleans itself… and if all this talk of NOLA has you half as hungry as weare, you’ll be pleased to hear that our French Quarter is lined with bars and eateriesworthy of their namesake. What’s more, you’re just steps away from sipping mystically at theFortune Teller bar, and definitely save time to browse some funky little shops.
Of the performances, I most enjoyed two main-theater shows that are also found on some other ships in the fleet. Activities here are less structured, and participants can come and go as they please. Back inside, Deck 6's Piano Bar is where passengers can order a tipple while an onboard pianist tickles the ivories. Make your way up a deck, and you'll find the Limelight Lounge, which serves as a secondary performance space and trivia outpost.
On another day, the printed schedule was missing part four of a four-part show, which did show up on the agenda in the app. Even on port days, when most passengers are ashore, the public areas are filled with loud music that makes it hard to find a quiet escape. After all, Carnival vessels are known as the Fun Ships, but some of it seems unnecessary.
The sight lines are ok for looking directly at the stage but not always for some of the show’s aerial stunts. So even if you can find a seat, it may be partially obstructed. We saw guests waiting in line for hours or saving the open seats on the higher levels to have a chance to see these fantastic performances.
Let’s see what else… debuting right here there’s Dear Future Husband, an interactive pop-wedding adventure. Of course there’s also Celestial Strings, which reimagines rock and pop favorites as symphonic classical compositions, and We Are One, which has performers sometimes leaving the stage behind, actually soaring above the audience. The ship is also the second Carnival vessel to bear the Celebration name. The first, known simply as Celebration, set sail for the line in 1987. It left the fleet in 2008 before ending up with Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line as Grand Celebration, which was scrapped during the industry's pandemic pause in 2021.
The Mardi Gras is a ship belonging to Carnival’s Excellence Class, also known as Excel Class, and is the sister ship of Carnival Celebration. With a capacity of 5,282 passengers based on double occupancy, it is named after a former Carnival cruise ship that sailed for two decades. The Miss Dominican Republic, Kimberly Jiménez, is the ship’s godmother. The ship takes her name from a former Carnival cruise ship, Celebration, that was part of the Holiday class. The name also pays homage to the companies long history as the ship was delivered during Carnival Cruise Line’s 50th birthday year.
If you don't make one, you might find yourself waiting 20 minutes or more for a table at peak times. If you make a reservation through the app, you'll receive a notification to report to the host stand when your table is ready. Speaking of the bed, it was exceptionally comfortable, and I was excited to find that the TV across from it had a sizable selection of free movies (as well as newer releases for a fee). The TV also allows you to watch select live channels and shipboard programming and to check your onboard bill. Combining noise with the annoyance of hawking alcohol, the roving waiters visited every table at Chibang!
I have sailed numerous times aboard many classes of Carnival Cruise ships, so I was excited to have the opportunity to experience this incredible ship firsthand. It’s a meal, a performance, and it’s definitely unforgettable. The Bonsai Teppanyaki™ experience is set to delight guests aboard Mardi Gras®. Take a little time out of vacation to sit down to a selection of tempting appetizers, before your chef prepares the main course featuring selections of meats, tofu, fish, shrimp or lobster… right at your table. In the teppanyaki tradition — and Carnival’s tradition of fun — expect an interactive, satisfying meal full of surprise and delicious delight. And we'd know, with all the Italian seafaring spirit that's literally driving the ship.
You can count on Carnival Jubilee’s atrium to set the vacay vibes for your whole cruise. Look up and you’re honestly in for an eyeful — floor-to-ceiling windows, 14-foot LED screens, a ceiling of 1,400 color-changing lights… everything points to BIG FUN happening in here. And even if you’re just passing through, know that you’ll definitely be back later. Center Stage features a rotating selection of live entertainment, while Grand View Bar serves up great drinks with plenty to feast your eyes on. In Grand Central you're never far from cups of comfort at JavaBlue™ Café, great dining spots like Bonsai Sushi™ and Bonsai Teppanyaki™, plus feel-good entertainment like Piano Bar 88™ and The Punchliner Comedy Club™.
Suddenly, there are very few or no lines, and the whole ship has a different vibe. We chose to take it easy, have a slice of pizza al fresco, look at the many ships in port with us today, and relax. We saw many people having full meals here, and it all looked and smelled amazing.
During my visit, I ordered a pound of stone crab claws in garlic butter (market price) with red beans and rice ($3) and a brie bowl ($6). My only complaint is that, apart from a claw cracker, there were no other tools available to get to the crab meat. (I asked.) My waiter had no bibs or wet wipes to offer, which left me a bit messy afterward. If you're seeking a between-meal snack or light bite, try the JavaBlue Cafe on Deck 6 in Grand Central. The cafe offers a sizable menu of specialty coffee beverages and tea, as well as free and for-fee snacks. Also on Deck 8 are Coastal Slice and neighboring Beach Buns, which respectively replace the pizza and deli counters found by the pool on most other Carnival ships.
